LeBron James may once again leave the Cleveland Cavaliers. James has a player option for the next year on his contract and it's up to him to decide whether he wants to stay with the team or become a free agent. The four-time MVP went back to Cleveland to bring them a championship, but considering the current situation in the league, it looks like an impossible mission.
Although the Cavaliers are the first seed in the East, they don't look as a championship contender, especially with the incredible Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs on the other side. LeBron James carries most of the load on the team, much more than he should when he is surrounded by two great players in Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving and a solid supporting cast.
The Cavaliers have the best record in their conference, but the third-best record in the league. Even in the East, they are only 2.5 games ahead of the Toronto Raptors, who are in the second place. LeBron has already lost once to the Warriors in the NBA finals and he is 0-2 in the finals as a member of the Cavaliers. If it turns into 0-3, there is a big chance that he will leave once again and pursue a championship ring somewhere else.
Every team in the league wants LeBron James, so if he becomes a free agent there is no doubt that he will get many offers. Beside the Cavaliers, James could end up in Los Angeles, playing for the Lakers, in New York City where he would play with Carmelo Anthony or he would go back to Miami and once again team up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. There is no doubt that James would turn every team into an instant championship contender, so if he leaves the Cavaliers, there will definitely be a shift of power in the league.
